Daisy and Lena

Daisy from How I Live Now
Lena from The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2

Elizabeth or as she likes people to call her Daisy had lived in New York City before she went to live with her cousins in England for the summer. It was a big difference from the city life to then going to country life and live with people she had never met before. When her plane had arrived at the London airport the first person she had meet was Edmond her cousin. Edmond took her bags and they got into the car to drive to their house that was out in the countryside. It really surprised Daisy that Edmond was 14 years old and was driving and smoking a cigarette. When they arrived at the house she got to meet her other cousins Isaac and Piper and also Aunt Penn.
Daisy was starting to get used to living in England until aunt Penn left to go to Osla and a bomb was dropped in London on the train station and had started a war. That was the day after she left so then Aunt Penn could not come back home. Daisy and her cousins were all left at the house with no parents, that meant no rules and they could do whatever they wanted. But since there was a war happening with an unnamed enemy they had to prepare for the war. So they all started to live in the barn that was next to the house. Daisy then had started to get more closer with Edmond and they both started to get a emotional and physical attractions to each other. Which is very odd since they are cousins. Edmond and Daisy got more close to each other and were pretty much dating.

As the war went on more people were getting worried about Daisy and her cousins that they were living alone with no parent or guardian. So Daisy and Piper were sent to live with a the McEvoys family and Edmond and Isaac were sent to a different house. Daisy’s Dad had found out about the war happening and had Daisy sent back to New York. When Edmond had found out that Daisy had left when the war was over he had felt like she had abandoned him and just left him. It was six years later and Daisy went back to England to visit Edmond and her cousins. Edmond was not acting like himself and was very quiet, he just felt like she abandoned him.
When it was time for Daisy to leave England she had left to go to Greece to visit her other cousin Lena. Lena was visiting Greece with her best friends Tiby, Bridget and Carmen. Daisy got to Greece and had found out that Effie (Lena’s sister) had lost the pants that were so special to them because the pants had surprisingly had fit everyone of the girls.
“I can’t believe Effie lost the pants!” Daisy said
“I know! Effie was mad at Tiby for having Effie’s boyfriend break up with her because he wanted to go back out with Effie and then Effie was mad at me for taking Tibby’s side since Tibby already went out with him before” Lena explained
“oh wow, so how did Effie lose the pants?” Daisy asked
“Well Effie took the pants to Greece since she was mad at us and when she was on the fairy the pants had gotten wet so when she got to the house she hung them up to dry and they had gotten lost.” Lena said
“Oh my gosh! Have you found them yet? they are so special to you girls you need to find them!” Daisy said.
“well, you can help us hang up some posters and try and find them” Lena said.
“Okay” Daisy said
Lena and Daisy both walked around town hanging up posters and talking a lot of people trying to see if they could find the pants. But they had no luck and could not find them anywhere.
“I’m so sorry we couldn’t find the pants we looked so much for them” Daisy said
“It’s okay I guess it was meant to be that we would lose the pants” Lena said
“Yeah it was” Daisy said
“I almost forgot that you still need to tell me about what happened with Edmond” Lena said
“ Well Edmond was acting really weird and didn’t really talk that much. I think it’s over with us and we are just only cousins.” Daisy said
“ I think thats good that things turned out this way and you can forget about what happened” Lena said
“Yeah I think it’s good it’s just gonna be hard to forget all the things that had happened between me and Edmond but i will just have to move on” Daisy said.

  1. 1. I thoguht this story was really good and had a good dialog. I pictured greece and the pants, because i saw the movie. I thought it was really weird that Daisy and Edmond had strong feelings for eachother and were pretty much dating, even though they are cusions. Thats just cray.

    2. I thought the setting was well described when Erica wrote "As the war went on more people were getting worried about Daisy and her cousins that they were living alone with no parent or guardian" I could picture the war and the people yelling, fighting and guns shooting, and the children by themselves, scared in their home.

3.I thought the conversation seemed legit. The dialog fit really nicely with the situation they are in.

    4. I thought it was really good. I just thought the characters were kind of confusing for me, just because i haven't read the books and i haven't seen the sisterhood of the traveling pants in like forever. But this was good! Good job gurl xD

  2. 1. I think your story is very good. I pictured the setting of England because I too, had read How I Live Now. The thought of Edmond and Daisy being so close was kind of weird. I could never picture myself dating a cousin or close relative.

    2. The setting was well described. I could really picture "Edmond took her bags and they got into the car to drive to their house that was out in the countryside." I also laughed at the thought of a 14 year old driving.

    3. The Conversation was authentic and realistic. It flowed really well and in a real-life situation I could apply this conversation with what is happening.

    4. The only thing that threw me off was some run on sentences. I couldn't tell whether or not a new idea was starting or ending. Next time maybe you could re-read it and fix those things. Other than that, great job! (=

  3. Erica, your essay was very long. This story made me think of The Chronicles of Narnia.
The whole story was well put together. I loved how you would be reading it peacefully one moment and the next, you were addicted to it. This honestly made me get so curious about the ending the whole story.
The conversation between Daisy and Lena was the best I`ve read overall. It was all of the best adjectives to describe it put together to make it so fantastic.
I did not see any flaws in the story, so a job well done to you. Keep up the good work!!
